Foreman Training

These courses are designed for field personnel that are training to become jobsite foremen, or are already foremen looking to add to their skills. Each course’s curriculum will help develop the critical skills needed to lead and coordinate their crew to ensure the project is completed on-time, on-budget and sets the foundation for a long-term relationship with the client.

  • (Length: 2 hours. Format: In-person or online)

    This course will review the typical types of documentation a foreman will have on a project such as the daily job log, requests for information, change orders, and correspondence to increase productivity and reduce liability. The rules for effective documentation will be discussed as well as the contractual obligations to respond to change orders and changed site conditions in a timely manner. Strategies to negotiate change orders to achieve full value will also be presented.

  • (Length: 2 hours. Format: In-person or online)

    This course will discuss the purpose and scope of a Turnover Meeting as well as the role of the Foreman in that meeting. An overview of how the estimating process generates the needed data to manage the project will be discussed, with an emphasis on how project scope is determined. The data will be used to help the Foreman identify critical activities and optimize productivity.

  • (Length: 2 hours. Format: In-person or online)

    This course discusses strategies on proper management techniques to build a culture of teamwork, reduce conflict, and increase productivity. Site management tools, such as two-week look ahead schedules, will be applied as well as discussions on proper disciplinary actions that may be needed on a jobsite.

  • (Length: 2 hours. Format: In-person or online)

    This course will give an overview of the Foreman’s role in developing, monitoring, maintaining and controlling a construction schedule. Overall impact of time on a project as well as contractual obligations will also be discussed. Basics of Critical-Path-Method (CPM) will be discussed as well as examples of projects using Microsoft Project software will be used.
